FAQ

WHAT A GREAT IDEA! WHERE DO I START?

Just apply to be part of the AME program by completing either the Apprentice or Mentor application. Once you’ve done that, check out our online database for opportunities that might suit you. Contact the mentor or apprentice whose offer matches what you are looking for. Also, watch for our regular email alerts and website posts for seminars, conferences and other information. Keep checking back. The databases are growing all the time.

DOES AME WORK?

Yes. A discipleship-based concept of education has proven throughout history to be one of the very best ways to educate a young person for his occupation, life, and eternity. With the launch of the AME program in 2008, we’re still fairly young, but we’ve already seen success in young people and families who are being mentored and discipled for careers and business opportunbities on a daily and weekly basis.

I HAVE A BUSINESS OR I AM INTERESTED IN STARTING MY OWN BUSINESS. HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Just complete the Apprentice Application and be specific about your desire to be mentored in furthering or beginning your business. Then, check the Mentor Database for entries from businessmen who have offered to assist with mentoring someone who has a business or is interested in getting started in business. Contact those individuals and begin the conversation. Check back often. The databases are growing all the time.

I AM IN COLLEGE. CAN I STILL BE A PART OF AME?

Absolutely! Mentorship can happen concurrently with college studies, and has for decades in fields such as law, medicine, and politics. With some students, mentorship will provide all the training a young person needs to be prepared; with others, a college degree may be necessary. Either way, a real-life mentorship should be considered a critical component of your higher education.

WILL MY CONTACT INFORMATION BE PUBLICALLY PUBLISHED?

No. The AME Network is password-protected and not available to the general public. To respect the privacy and safety of prospective apprentices, we won’t publish an apprentice’s address or phone number in our general AME Network.

WHO IS BEHIND AME?

AME is founded and run by Christian Home Educators of Colorado (CHEC). For several decades, CHEC has helped homeschool families teach and train their children during the K-12 years. Now, CHEC is taking one more step and helping these families continue during the higher education years.

Home-business + Home-schooling

June 18, 2020

Guest contributor – Shari McMinn The landscape of family living shifted significantly this spring when every school in our nation physically closed due to Covid19, with associated social distancing and ‘stay at home’ government orders. Public and private PK-12 schools, even colleges, transitioned students to learn at home, mostly on computers. Suddenly, working parents also […]
