Family Economy Story: Clean…Living…Together!

Life as an entrepreneur comes naturally for me. Growing up with a family of small business owners, I’ve always thought of business as farming – but in the city. Starting at the age of 10, I found myself out working every night after school with my dad in the buildings that he cleaned for his janitorial company.

The lessons I learned 35 years ago are still with me today: obey my parents, be honest, take responsibility, embrace wisdom, and don’t be afraid to take the lead.

Today, mowing, cleaning, and residential living have been our focus together as a family.  Here’s our story.

AME Youth Programs coming in 2016

20150424-KLW-00006_625pxThe mission of AME is to help families in the practical application of apprenticeship, mentorship and entrepreneurship to the glory of God.  As part of that mission, we’re excited to announce two upcoming programs in Kansas City and in Denver.  These programs will provide practical training and hands-on opportunities for young entrepreneurs.  Hurry and sign up – space is limited!

Kansas City

On Thursday, April 21st, you’re invited to a training near the KCI Airport led by AME Director Mike Cheney.  Come learn how to manage your money, reach new customers, present yourself professionally, and more.  Training participants are also registered for the business plan contest (with the winner receiving and iPad!).  Additionally, young people are also invited to sign up for a booth in the Youth Vendor area of the MPE Conference (Friday and Saturday following the training).  Advance registration is required and space is limited! (Conference registration is recommended but not required.)

Denver

On June 17th-18th, coinciding with the Rocky Mountain Homeschool Conference, students are invited to register for a training, business plan contest, and participation in the youth vendor area.  Registration is limited and includes all 3 components.  At the training, students will learn how to manage money, reach new customers, present themselves professionally, and more.  Participants will also have the chance to enter the business plan contest (prizes include an iPad!) and will have designated space in the Youth Vendor area to sell their wares.  Advance registration is required and space is limited!  (Conference registration is required.)
